DBSL CC, Ipswich, Suffolk

The Deep Backward Square Leg Cricket Club were established in 1986 and this year for the first time we have entered the Two Counties Championship. This is bound to provide us with new challenges both on and off the field and we would welcome any new players who are keen to play cricket at one of the better sporting facilities in Ipswich.

The club itself has been in existence for 20 years starting off as a friendlies only side.

After a season of learning the ropes we entered the Suffolk Cricket Alliance in Section F in 1987.

Although it was Club Constitutions never to be promoted!! due to an adjustment of the leagues and despite finishing bottom of Section F we achieved promotion to Section E at the end of our first league season. We continued our struggle in Section E until 1992 when yet another league adjustment saw promotion to the dizzy heights of Section D.

Following a merger in 1998 with another local side with whom we have had a long standing relationship with (Guardian Cricket Club), we were able to expand the club and now also have a 2nd XI.

Apart from league cricket we also enjoy touring games, both home and away (reports and photos of previous tours appear elsewhere on the site).

In 2006 with the local reorganisation of cricket, we entered the Two Counties Championship playing on Saturdays, whilst continuing to play on Sundays in Section B of the Suffolk Alliance.

In 2007 we will again be playing on Saturdays in the Two Counties Championship and on Sundays in the Suffolk Alliance.
